a loving moment

I was talking with some friends tonight after watching a movie and suddenly I had a very distinct feeling

"You will be happy one day."

Moments like that give me the energy to keep going forward

Sometimes when I am extraordinarily cynical and my kids are complaining about having to clear the table or help with the dishes or make their beds or some equally trivial chore, I'll say to them, "Life is hard, and then you die."

In truth, though, I honestly believe that while life has its ups and downs, Heavenly Father wants us to be happy and makes it possible for us to be happy if we will let him.

Read 2 Nephi 2:25. Sometimes it may not seem like it, but we're supposed to have joy. We need to remind ourselves sometimes.

Consider this a reminder. I need them, too. Often.

I'm glad you had the moment. They are that "thrilling burst of speed" or "incredible vista" in President Hinckley's analogy of life.

I had a moment like this in the temple. I sat there thinking about all the evil things that happen in this world and why the Lord allows us to suffer, a kind of typical question but on my mind nevertheless. I was agonizing about the "unfairness" of the challenges that we are given. The Spirit just told me, you know good is going to overcome, right? Don't fear. I try not to doubt that good will overcome and I can choose to be a part of the good. The Lord wants you to be happy and he will show you how. Love you!
